Elmer William Jackson of Armada died Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at his home at the age of 87 years.
Elmer was born December 8, 1925 in Detroit, a son of Elmer William and Viola (nee Lange) Jackson. During World War II, Elmer served his country in the U. S. Army. On October 22, 1949, he married Elsie Marion Christian in Utica. Since 1955, Elmer was a co-owner of BEBCO Manufacturing Co. Inc. of Romeo until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Armada Snow Tigers Snowmobile Club and was fond of hunting and fishing. Elmer also enjoyed farming, raising cattle and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elsie; son, Michael (Hazel) Jackson of Oscoda; daughter, Jennifer (Rick) Drinkhorn of Armada; sisters, Lorraine Rinke of Utica and Joann (Don) Ulery of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Michelle) Cohoon, Guy (Roberta) Cohoon, Jason Jackson, Brandon (Mary) Cohoon, Jenelle Jackson, Melissa (Jim) Bettcher, Christopher Drinkhorn and Rachel (Dave) Sutton; step grandchildren, Tanya (Chris) Huss and Daniela (Randy) Lietz; great-grandchildren, Brett, Brendon, Kade, Kyle, Emma, MaCallah, Fischer, Parker, Joel and Rylee; step great-grandchildren, Dyman, Nathan, Keenon and Devon; and son-in-law, Bob Burkhart. Elmer was predeceased by his daughter, Veronica Burkhart; parents; and siblings, Ruth Skiba, Robert and George Jackson, Jane Minor and Pat Ulery.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at St. Mary Mystical Rose Catholic Church, 24040 Armada Ridge, Armada with the Rev. Fr. Siaosi Patau celebrant. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Romeo Cemetery. Visitation is Monday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Scripture service at Tiffany-Young and Hauss Funeral Home, 73919 North Ave., Armada and at church on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to the 11:30 a.m. Mass.
