Gerard "Jerry" Richard Wylin of Armada died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Port Huron at the age of 76 years.
Gerard was born November 16, 1936 in Romeo, a son of Maurice Karl and Ivonna Bertha (nee Logghe) Wylin. In 1986, Jerry retired from AT & T, where he was a Data Systems Installer. Jerry's life revolved around his community service. He was a Life Member of the Armada Lions, serving as the current treasurer, a Past President twice, a Past Region Chairman and in 1994 received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was also involved with the Elks, Eagles and the Moose Lodge and was recognized by the Greater Romeo-Washington Chamber of Commerce with the EMMA Award. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting and spending winters in Florida.
Surviving are his sons, Richard Wylin of Armada and Randall (Michelle) Wylin of Macomb; grandchildren, Bethany (David) Gorlin, Melissa Wylin and Justin Wylin; loving friend and companion, Janet Arnold; brother, Robert (Joyce) Wylin of Bayport and sister, Nancy (Richard) Sasseen of Imlay City. Jerry was predeceased by his parents.
A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Tiffany-Young and Hauss Funeral Home, 73919 North Ave., Armada with Rev. Robert Bryant of Stone Ridge Church of Romeo officiating. Visitation is Saturday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to the 2 p.m. service.
