Obituary

         Frederick "Fred" Thomas Coard III of Armada Township died Monday, May 21, 2012 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township at the age of 73 years.


          Frederick was born November 7, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of Frederick Thomas and Juanita (nee Love) Coard II.  Fred served his country in the United    States Army.  On January 5, 1963, he married Alma Louise Shore in Baltimore, Maryland.  Fred was a machine repairman and a former longtime employee of Interstate of Romeo and Venture Industries of Mt. Clemens.  He enjoyed thoroughbred horseracing at Pimlico Race Track in Maryland and at Hazel Park and also enjoyed fixing and repairing his cars.


          Fred is survived by his wife, Louise; daughters, Kathy Coard of California and April (Mike) Marentette of Allenton; son, Frederick Thomas Coard IV of Indiana; grandchildren, Thomas Frederick Coard, Jonathon Victor Coard, Mark Richard Marentette and Amy Ellen Marentette; brothers, Thomas and James Coard of Maryland; and sisters, Jane Potrzuski of Maryland and Juanita Coffey of Pennsylvania.  Fred was predeceased by his parents.


          A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at West Berlin United Methodist Church, 905 Holmes Road, Allenton with the Rev. Curtis Clarke officiating.  Burial with U.S. Army Honors will follow in West Berlin Cemetery, Berlin Township.


          Visitation is Saturday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tiffany-Young and Hauss Funeral Home, 73919 South Fulton, Armada and at church on Sunday from 1 p.m. to the 2 p.m. service.


          In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the West Berlin United Methodist Church.
